The Department of Tourism has given a five-day ultimatum to three casino companies that have not paid their dues to the government. The department has given an ultimatum to pay the arrears of Rs. 905.57 million within five days.
Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has decided to give an ultimatum to the three casino companies on Wednesday.
He said, "The minister has decided to give an ultimatum to pay the arrears by making a ministerial decision. We have published a five-day notice to pay the amount. If not, action will be taken."
In a public statement, the department said that Rock International Pvt. Ltd. owes Rs. 303.8 million, Happy Hour Kathmandu Rs. 301.7 million, and Oriental Hotels Lazimpat Rs. 300 million
The department has stated that legal action will be taken against the companies if they do not pay the dues within five days. Regular royalties and renewals up to FY 2076/77 are yet to be collected. So far, 17 companies have collected Rs. 870 million in government accounts by paying royalties, according to the department.
