Due to the obstruction of locals, the garbage of Kathmandu Valley has not been collected since February 13. The city has become foul-smelling as the garbage has not been picked up for nine days. Wastage at 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley could not be picked up due to obstruction by the residents of Pasanglamu Highway saying that the road leading to Sisdol in Nuwakot was not repaired on time.

Garbage has been piled up in the main streets of the valley for the past nine days. The corporation has demanded the road department to complete the road work immediately and remove the obstruction of the locals. According to Rai, the road started in 2013 has not been completed yet and the locals have been protesting against the dumping of garbage. "The central government should be sensitive in this regard," he said.

Although the federal government is responsible for the construction of the road, the waste management in the valley has been hampered for multiple days. It is said that a long-term waste management site is being constructed in Bancharedanda and there is a problem as the work has not been completed on time.

It is said that the central government needs to find a long-term solution as soon as possible if KMP is to dispose of garbage in the valley on a regular basis. Garbage of 18 local levels of Kathmandu Valley is being managed at Sisdol in Nuwakot. As the place is full now, there are more problems in waste management. According to the CPN (Maoist), the problem has arisen due to the non-completion of the long-term garbage management site under construction at Bancharedanda, two kilometers away from the place where the garbage is being managed.
