Police have arrested engineers affiliated with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) who had been planning to picket Singha Durbar. The engineers who were heading towards Singha Durbar from Maitighar and Hanumanthan were arrested in front of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction.

The engineers have launched a protest citing they had not received the extra facilities that the government had pledged to provide annually. They engineers were hired by the National Reconstruction Authority for the reconstruction of the structures that were damaged in the earthquake of April 25, 2015.

The protesting engineers have also urged the government to utilise the skills and knowledge of the country’s engineers so that they are not compelled to go abroad for employment. They have also rued the fact that the government has not recognised their contribution in rebuilding the country.
