Strong winds damage electricity poles, disrupt power supply

The power supply to Bharatpur Metropolitan City, which was disrupted due to strong winds in the district on Friday evening, will take another five days to operate. As many as 140 electricity poles in Bharatpur have collapsed due to strong winds.

According to Rajendra Poudel, an engineer at the Electricity Authority's Bharatpur Distribution Center, the poles in evry ward from 1 to 6 of Bharatpur metropolis have collapsed. He said that it would take another five days to fully operate the electricity by organizing the poles.

 According to Rajiv Kumar Singh, head of the center, the power supply from Bharatpur substation has been disrupted. According to him, the poles have collapsed due to strong winds in Bharatpur. NEA has mobilized a team of four contractors and the entire technical force of NEA to repair the fallen poles and wires, said Singh.

 He said that electricity has been restored by giving priority to hospitals and security agencies, polling stations, drinking water and other sensitive areas. Engineer Poudel said that there was no problem in the distribution of electricity from Chanauli substation.

 Although there is no problem in the flow of electricity in the western region of Bharatpur, there is a problem in the flow of electricity to the district headquarters Bharatpur, Narayangarh market area and Ratnanagar Khairhani of East Chitwan, he said. He informed that materials worth Rs. 3 million were damaged and electricity consumption of Rs. 50 million was disrupted due to the strong winds.

 Mobile phone service has also been affected due to prolonged power outage, while drinking water and internet have also been affected. Three people were killed and 11 others were injured in the storm on Friday. Many trees in the main urban area of ​​Bharatpur have been affected by the storm.
