Three arrested with Leopard skin in Kathmandu

Police arrested three men on Wednesday in possession of two leopard skins in the Kathmandu district.

The arrestees have been identified as Bishal Tamang, 28, Binod Tamang, 32 of Shivapuri Rural Municipality in Nuwakot district, and Kami Singh Syangtan, 42, of Rapti Municipality-1 in Chitwan.

After being informed that they were smuggling the skin, security personnel deployed from the Minbhawan-based Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) nabbed them with the skin from Airport Sekuwa Corner in Kathmandu Metropolitan-1. MCD confiscated 2 feet 2 inches long and 7 inches wide leopard skin from them.

The arrested trio have been handed over to District Forest Office (DFO), Kathmandu for further action.

Likewise, the confiscated skins have been handed over to DFO by MCD.

They will be tried under National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act (2029).
