Tukucha river found under a cinema hall

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has excavated the Tukucha river by digging Jai Nepal movie hall compound. In order to maintain the existence of Tukucha river, the metropolis had issued a notice in the name of the stakeholders to remove the encroachment through a public notice.

According to the Chief of Metropolitan Police Force, Superintendent of Police Rajunath Pandey, the search for the hole was started from the compound of Jai Nepal cinema building on the road section from Nagpokhari towards Durbarmarg.

After 40 minutes of digging with a dozer, the river was found. Giving information about the condition of the river, Pandey said, "The River was found 15 feet below the permanent structure."

After this, there is a plan to open the covered part of the river up to Kathmandu Plaza, according to City Police Superintendent Pandey.
