Youth held with 124 grams of gold from TIA

Security personnel on Wednesday arrested a youth in possession of 124 grams bracelet and two rings of gold in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu.

The arrested has been identified as Jiban Limbu (22) of Lingkhim-7 in Taplejung district. He had returned from Doha, Qatar travelling to Kathmandu via Nepal Airlines flight. He had hidden the gold inside the emergency light device. He was caught smuggling gold during a routine check conducted by TIA Customs Department through the XRAY screening process.

Despite heightened security at the international airport, people are found to be involved in gold smuggling.

Meanwhile, the arrested have been handed over to the Gaucharan-based Airport Customs Office for further actions and investigation, informed said TIA Security Office.
