Rajkumar Rai is a well-known name in Nepali sports field. He was a taekwondo player when Nepal won 8 medals in the Asian Games for the first time. In the 10th Asian Games held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea in 1986, Nepal won a total of 8 medals in Taekwondo and Boxing.
Rai, who won a gold medal in the South Asian Games in 1999, is now a movie star. After 24 years of playing in the movie called Commando, he is now a part of a movie called "Soul of the Commando" . The movie will be released all over Nepal on December 2.
The movie is based on the story of bravery and struggle of Gorkha Army. Rajkumar Rai, himself is a former Gurkha soldier. He joined the Gorkha Army in 1980. Rai, who has personally experienced being a Gorkha soldier, has said that he tried to make the movie come alive by acting as a soldier.
The pain and mental stress experienced during the battle as a soldier is also depicted in the movie. It is a family and action movie, spoken in Nepali and foreign languages.
An attempt has been made to cover the 200-year history of Gorkha. Similarly, the role of the soldier's family has also been shown in the movie.
In the movie, the hero and other actors have also presented risky action. This is the second film of Yuvraj Rai, the director. Similarly, it was shot by experienced cinematographer, Dirgha Gurung.
Rai has also acted in some commercials and movies in Canada.
He has worked as a taekwondo instructor in Canada for a long time and has taken a break from last April. He also said that he is ready to help for the development of sports in Nepal. He informed Nepalnews that he is ready to help as much as possible if requested by the official side of Nepali sports.
