The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has decided not to send troops into Ukraine. The information was given by the NATO Secretary-General on Thursday. He said NATO had decided to send troops to two cities in eastern Ukraine seeking independence but would not send troops inside Ukraine.

The decision was made at a NATO emergency meeting on Thursday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said.

The meeting also called on Russia to immediately suspend its invasion of Ukraine and withdraw its troops. "We urge Russia to immediately suspend all military action against Ukraine and to work for a diplomatic solution, not a military one," he said.

Russia has been launching military strikes on Ukraine since Thursday. Russian forces are reportedly attacking several Ukrainian cities.
