COVID-19 cases rising in Far Western Nepal

In the last few days, the number of corona infections has started increasing again in the far western region. According to the state health directorate of Dipayal Rajpur, the number of newly infected people has reached 162 within a week. It is said that people who are returning home from neighboring India have started showing signs of infection. As the number of people returning to Nepal has increased along with the increase in infections in India, the rate of infection has also increased in the far west, according to the directorate.

According to the directorate, the highest number, 92 newly infected people have been added in Kailali's statistics, 53 in Kanchanpur, 12 in Baitadi, two in Darchula, and one each in Bajhang, Bajura, & Dadeldhura. The new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, is on the rise, and the number of people active in the Far-Western region is on the rise, raising concerns among locals.
