Nepal reports 74 new COVID cases

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 74 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 999,355. Additionally, 35 people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 0 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 12,016. Presently, there are 1,619 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 15 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 13 cases, Lalitpur logged 1 case and Bhaktapur logged 1 case, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 160 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 985,720 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 98.6 percent while the fatality rate is 1.2 percent.

As of Tuesday, a total of 5,925,000 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.

617,617,963 people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 6,532,040 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December.
