Bandregaun of Malika in Baglung district, a village near the district headquarters, is reeling under a crisis for the shortage of drinking water for years. Supply of drinking water here has become a political slogan but the issue of drinking water supply has never been addressed.

A school in the village has not even quenched the thirst of its students.

Parbati Sharma, a resident of Baglung Municipality-5, said their pleas for the supply of drinking water were unheard. It is said that people from the village have migrated to other areas due to an acute shortage of water and the people's life there is more difficult.

Vegetable farming and animal husbandry are also affected though the residents own cultivable land, Sharma shared.

She hoped that out-migration could be controlled if the supply of drinking water is ensured.

Prem Sharma Sapkota, 70, said the village with 35 households is witnessing a crisis of water supply for some four decades.

However, the ward chairman of Baglung Municipality-5 Hari Prasad Sharma said that a plan to ensure safe drinking water in the village is in the final stage. A water tank is constructed through a consumers' committee and planting a pipeline is left to do," Sharma stated.
