Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) has voiced its complaint for no progress in the implementation of the budgetary provision of extending six months of the construction projects. The annual budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 has specified this provision.

The Federation has expressed its serious concern over the halt of payment to the contractors by not extending the timeline when the current fiscal year is coming to an end.

Payment has been held by not extending the period of over 5,000 projects where contractors and workers have worked without caring about their health status amidst COVID-19 risk, stated a press statement issued by Federation’s General-Secretary Roshan Dahal on Tuesday.

The contractors have been forced to abandon their profession when they are yet to receive the payment of over Rs 50 billion from the state
