Prohibition order issued in Surkhet

The District Administration Office, Surkhet, has issued a restraining order from 8:15 pm tonight to 7:00 pm on Tuesday after the agitation against the ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement.

 Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal has issued a restraining order to take control of the situation after attempts were made to vandalize and set fire to party offices and police posts in Surkhet. It is mentioned in the local administration act that legal action will be taken according to the local administration act if it is not allowed to gather in Subbakuna of Birendranagar in the east, Bangesimal in the west, Kankrebihar forest in the south and Kapase in the north.

 Prajia Rijal said that the protesters became violent and a restraining order was issued to prevent further damage. The protesters had vandalized the offices of Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) at Hatiya Line in Surkhet in the evening. The windows of the Congress office have been shattered due to the stone pelting while the shutters of businessmen have been vandalized in the building where the UML office is located.

 The crowd scattered after the police striked them after the police began to take fire to party offices. The agitating and the police had doublely climbs in different places of Verndundar overnight today. After the MCC approval from the House of Representatives, eight different parties had called for a Nepal Bandh today
