Two people have died in Dhanusha and Saptari districts due to extreme cold and cold wave.
The deceased have been identified as Samudri Devi Yadav, 60, of Kshireshwar Nath Municipality-5, Dhanusha and Devnarayan Thakur, 65, of Mahdeva Municipality-4, Saptari. Chief of the District Coordination Committee Ram Dev Banrait Yadav informed that Yadav died while undergoing treatment at the Janakpurdham-based Provincial Hospital.
Mamata Yadav, the vice-chairperson of the village municipality, said that Thakur of Saptari died due to the cold.
Four local levels of Dhanusha have given leave to school as people's life is becoming difficult due to extreme cold and cold wave. Kshireshwornath Municipality, Nagarain Municipality, Mukhiyapatti Municipality and Laxminiya Municipality have issued notices stating that the school has been closed. Due to the cold, the number of fires burning in Toltol has increased.
