Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Surendra Raj Acharya has called for ending all sorts of discrimination and violence against women (VAW).

Visiting his hometown Kapilvastu for the first time after swearing in as the minister, Minister Acharya said that the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen is working to make women self-reliant.

At a programme organized at Shivaraj Municipality on Thursday, he claimed to begin developmental projects in the district along with jobs to the local people there.

He argued that his first priority was to start some mega projects in Kapilvastu district, which he says is lagging behind in the development activities.

On the occasion, speakers and local politicians asked the minister to focus his activities for the overall development of the district.
