Voxpop: What youths think the future holds

The youth of this generation are more inclined towards going abroad instead of staying in the country and doing something. Most of the youth are not satisfied with the state of the country at present. One of the main reasons why youth choose to move to other countries is because many educated people are jobless. Those who have it are not fully satisfied.

The government is yet to shift their focus on the youth. Young adults of the nation feel unheard. Nepal news talked to some young adults of the nation to understand what they think their future will be like if they decide not to go abroad.

Nayan Bamjan ( College student from White House International)

"I don't see a good future here in Nepal. our country is ruled by old ministers and as they are old their thoughts are old. I think it's better if they leave it to the responsible young generation. I have a lot of doubts about my future here because of all these increases in transportation fares, petrol, etc. I don't think anyone can survive here easily having normal jobs. I am planning to go abroad because I cannot see a good future in our nation,".

Sabina Chamling Rai (student in Central College)

"I really do not think I'll have a bright future if I stay in this country. When the leaders are all corrupted, how can we expect ourselves to grow to have a good future? It is not easy to survive in this country if you aren't at least a little corrupt. People who want to live peacefully will have a really difficult time,".

Anjita Dotel (student)

"Future in our country is unstable. I don't know what will happen to our future based on the things that we are facing right now. We are living in the 21st century but still our country is ruled by all people of the 90s. We don't have good job opportunities and the jobs we get are not satisfying. Even the well-educated ones are jobless or they are forced to do the job that they don't deserve. I feel like I don't hold any power, not in politics, not in society, not in any activities that's related to development of the good future of our country. There is no one who listens to the voice of youth. If it goes like this then I only see darkness "

Kamal Thapa(Student in Times International College)

"I don't feel safe about my future after knowing what is happening in our country at present. Bus fares increase rapidly and the prices of different products increase every day. How can we survive with the earnings that always stay the same? We have so many political power-seekers who make us dream big but never do something good for the country or citizens. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. There are neither good facilities nor good opportunities".

Shital Tamang( Province no.1 basketball player)

"We all know that the present situation of our country is getting worse, especially because of the unstable government. It sometimes feels like the leaders do not care about the country and are rather too involved in corruption. Though I don't have solid plans for myself yet, I know I cannot get the life that I want here. I want to do something good for the country but there's no one who listens to the person who is less experienced and dont have political power. Simply put, our country is ruled by parasites".
