4th Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conference kicks off

The 4th Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conclave that was postponed due to Covid-19 has kicked off in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe inaugurated the two-day conference amid a function. 

On the occasion, the minister was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the exchange of experiences among youths through the conference would help expansion of mutual relations between both Nepal and Bangladesh and their cultural handover and development partnership. There was a need for youths to acquire world experience through which they would have a great role in the economic prosperity and development of a country, she stressed. 

On the occasion, Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury expressed the hope that exchange of experiences among youths through such programme would help with the trade expansion of both the countries and their overall development. 

Sustainable development goals, climate change and disaster mitigation, participation of youths and development of their entrepreneurship among others are issues on the table for discussion in the conference, said the programme coordinator Abhinav Chaudhary. 

Organised by the Youth Development Centre and South Asia Partnership Nepal in cooperation with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, the Nepal Tourism Board and the National Youth Council, mountaineers Anish Luitel and Lalmani Wagle presented separate working papers in the meeting. Likewise, Mahabub Alam of Dhaka University delivered a presentation on disaster management in Bangladesh. 

Following the conclusion of the inauguration session, artists of both countries presented folk cultural programmes of their respective countries. 

The conference has been participated by 40 youths from Nepal (from various districts) and a 25-member team of youths from Bangladesh.
