Austrian Ambassador pays courtesy call to Home Minister

Austrian Ambassador to Nepal Katherina Weiser has paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Bal Krishna KhanDuring the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, the two sides discussed deepening the mutual relations between the two countries, according to the Secretariat of the Home Minister. During the meeting, direct flights from Kathmandu to Vienna, the capital of Austria were discussed. Home Minister Khanna said that both the countries would benefit from the Kathmandu-Vienna flight. Ambassador Weiser said he would take the initiative with the government on the flight.

Diplomatic relations were established between Nepal and Austria on August 15, 1959. Austria has been assisting Nepal, especially in the protection of heritage areas. Austria has assisted in the restoration of the Patan Museum, protection of the Keshar Mahal Garden aka Dreams, promotion of Namche Hydropower, and rolling eco-tourism.
