The Embassy of India in Kathmandu has provided buses to Shripal and Namgyal Monastic Monastery (School) in Chonhup, Lomanthang Gaonpalika-3, Mustang. The embassy, which has constructed a 14-room building in the monastery, has also provided an ambulance to Gharapzhong village of Mustang.

Acting Ambassador of India to Nepal Nagya Si Khampa inaugurated the monastery at Chhonhup on Friday and handed over buses and ambulances, said Gauri Prasad Acharya, Chief Administrative Officer of the village. The construction of the monastery, which was contracted by the then District Development Committee in 2012 AD, took 11 years.

Shiva Kumar Poudel, an officer of the District Coordination Committee, said that the contract was canceled after the old contractor failed to complete the work and the construction of the building was completed through another contract. He said that about Rs. 70 million has been spent on the construction of structures including the Gumbal. The construction of a well-equipped building and the provision of buses have made it easier for the students studying in the monastery to move around.

Acting Ambassador Khampa hoped that the Government of India, through its embassy, was assisting in the construction of monasteries, pilgrimage residences and other structures in Mustang and that this would help in the development of Mustang.
