Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City tables budget of Rs 2.35 billion

The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has tabled the new budget of Rs 2.35 billion for the fiscal year 2022/023.

Releasing the budget for the upcoming year on Friday, Deputy Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Sabitra Devi Aryal said Rs 600 million would be managed from internal income sources while Rs 16.1 million from the federal government's equalization grants. Likewise, Rs 320 million would be received from the revenue sharing for the upcoming fiscal year.

Deputy Mayor Aryal also announced some basic programs to be launched from the sub-metropolitan city.

As announced, the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has announced to accord priority to the uplifting livelihood of the city dwellers through social, economic, and infrastructure development by mobilizing the available means and resources, capacity and opportunity.

The city has increased the amount of budget to be mobilized from the ward level making it Rs 165 million.

The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has also slashed the rate of property tax, rent tax, e-rickshaw renewal tax, and some others at least by 10 percent. Likewise, up to 15 percent tax exemption is proposed to the taxpayers submitting their taxes within the given deadline.

Likewise, tax exemption is proposed in several other headings.

In its budget, the city has given priority to safe drinking water supply, waste management, public toilet construction, reform in education quality, free basic health care services, and others.
