The victims of the decade-long armed conflict have called on the government to start the process of forming the two commissions related to transitional justice after the bill related to it is passed.

The Nepal National Network of Victims of Serious Human Rights Violations organized a press conference here today, unveiling a 14-point charter of demands issued after its two-day national consultation assembly.

One of the major demands is to take steps to make the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) effective and result-oriented.

Convenor of the Network Ram Kumar Bhandari called for constituting an effective high-level commission by amending the Act related to the two commissions as these are significant apparatuses of the transitional justice.

He urged for formulating policy on national dignity, memory and reparation with the participation of the conflict survivors and for initiatives to collaboratively address the economic, social and psycho-social aspects of the survivors.

The Network has stressed providing the necessary interim assistance in the transitional justice process based on the socio-economic needs of survivors and the geography.
