Dead body found in Jhapa

54-year-old Devi Prasad Pokharel of Virtamod-4, who left home to go to Illam 4 days ago, was found dead in Mechinagar Municipality-12, Kalijhoda.

During the preliminary examination, Chief of District Police Office, Jhapa, SP Bishwamani Pokharel informed that Devi Prasad had consumed poison. No suicide note or any other document was found with the deceased. "However, we are conducting a detailed investigation", he said.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem. Preparations to examine the viscera of the deceased are also being made. Viscera examination reveals what the deceased ate last while alive. 

Devi Prasad was the husband of Sushila Sangraula (Pokharel), Vice President of the Jhapa Branch of Nepal Journalist Federation, and central member of the Nepal Press Union.

His funeral will be held at Kankai Mai on Sunday at 4 pm, said Ekraj Giri, president of Nepal Journalist Federation Jhapa.
