Silence period being effectively monitored

Silent monitoring has been made effective in Kaski district for tomorrow's local elections.

Information Officer Neil Paneru informed that the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has made the monitoring effective saying that there should be no activity to affect the voters against the election code of conduct during that period. He said that after the start of the silence period, verbal complaints were received about attempts to distribute money and solicitation of votes through social media. He informed that the monitoring has been intensified in this regard.

He informed that a team comprising of all security agencies, election and administration officials would be mobilized today to monitor the activities of money laundering against the code of conduct in the run-up to the polling.

 It is said that about 20 vehicles are being prepared for the monitoring. In terms of geography, the district has four villages including Machhapuchche, Madi, Rupa and Annapurna. There are 207,712 voters in Pokhara Metropolitan City and 20,348 voters in Annapurna Municipality.

Similarly, there are 20 thousand 316 voters in Machhapuchche municipality, 18 thousand 782 voters in Madi municipality and 14 thousand 675 voters in Rupa municipality. There are 336 polling stations in the district for the election, according to the Election Office.
