Free sanitary pads distributed to schoolgirls in Karnali

Sarkegadh village municipality in Karnali has distributed sanitary pads to female students studying in different schools.

The village municipality has distributed pads to the students studying at Dewal Basic School. The village municipality has informed that free pads have been distributed to the girls as they are ashamed to stop coming to school during menstruation. The school principal Kali Bahadur Rawat informed that the pads were distributed to the students of classes 6 to 8 of the school studying at Tumcha in Sarkegad-1.

Pads have been distributed to 11 lower secondary school level schools in the municipality. He said that the students were embarrassed to take the pads during the distribution.

Pad Bank in Simkot

Rena Sanitary Pad Bank has been established in Simkot.

The head of Nepal, Chhomu Lama, said that the pad bank was set up with the objective of selling the company at maximum retail price for women. In Humla, which is not connected to the road network, Yeti Airlines from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and Tara Airlines from Nepalgunj to Simkot will transport the pads free of cost.

The pads will be available at the office of Himali Education and Development Head Nepal, Doma General Store, New Himalaya Trading House, and Vikas General Store to reach the general public, said Lama. In the past, menstruation was considered a taboo subject in the district, but now, with the change of timely education, it is considered normal.
