Garbage management in Kathmandu Valley has become a matter of headache for everyone. Lately, garbage has not been collected in the Kathmandu Valley. Garbage is piled up in the streets and alleys. The government's announcement of long-term waste management has not been materialized. Due to the obstruction of the locals of Sisdol area of Nuwakot, where garbage from the valley is being managed, the vehicles carrying garbage have not been able to reach the dumping site.

The lawmakers of the National Assembly have drawn the attention of the government regarding the long-term management of garbage in the valley. In today's meeting of the National Assembly, MP Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami drew the attention of the government to immediately manage the garbage piled up in the streets of Kathmandu. "Garbage has increased its stench, it is raining now, it can spread epidemics including cholera, so garbage should be managed quickly," he said.

Stating that no one should understand garbage management as the sole responsibility of the metropolis, he said that all stakeholders would have equal role for the long-term solution of garbage. He said that instead of managing rotting and non-rotting garbage in one place, attention should be paid to reuse manure and non-rotting garbage from rotting garbage. “Rotting garbage can be used as manure. For this, civic awareness is needed, ”he said.

MP Jayanti Devi Rai said that pedestrians are unable to walk on the road due to the stench of garbage and drew the attention of the government for its long-term management. Stressing on the need to manage the garbage by separating it from the source, he urged the government to bring a program to convert garbage into seals.

"It is hot and rainy season, epidemics can spread so garbage should be managed as soon as possible, ”he said.
