Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities has demanded all the political parties field indigenous nationalities candidates in the upcoming local elections in the areas where the indigenous community is in the majority. At a press conference organized by the newly elected working committee of the federation in Kathmandu, it was emphasized that the state should consult and discuss with the tribal organizations while making laws.

It was informed at the press conference that a special action plan would be brought for the upliftment and empowerment of the indigenous tribes and for the preservation and promotion of their original language, religion, and culture. Stating that initiatives will be taken for inclusive representation in various state bodies, it was mentioned that efforts will be made to make Nepal a multilingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural country a cultural, religious, and tourist destination.

At the press conference, Gelje Lama Sherpa, President of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, expressed his commitment to constructing the building of the Federation during his tenure.
