Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Govinda Prasad Sharma Koirala has said that the government will try its best to bring justice to Niharika Rajput.

Law Minister Koirala met Rajput who is being treated at Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital Maharajganj today and asked him to postpone the fast. Niharika, a resident of Jaleshwar Municipality-9 in Mahottari, is on a fast to death demanding the DNA test of her child who was born from rape and of the man who raped her.

Niharika, who has been on hunger strike for a week in Basantpur, attempted self-immolation by spraying petrol on her body in front of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 27.

Law Minister Koirala informed that Niharika has been asked by the government to postpone the fast as there is no reason to go on a fast when the High Court has summoned both parties. He said that the government is serious about Niharika's demand.

In the meeting, Niharika said that she will think and express her opinion. The meeting was attended by Attorney General Khamba Bahadur Khati, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Govinda Prasad Rizal, Prada Dinesh Kafle, Executive Director of Trivi Teaching Hospital Maharajganj, Senior Superintendent of Police of Kathmandu District Police Office Bharat Bahadur Bohra, Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police of Police Circle Maharajgunj Angur JC and others.
