HoR and PA elections being held today

Elections for the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly will be held across Nepal today, Sunday, November 20. Elections are scheduled to be held today from 7 am to 5 pm. The Election Commission has called upon all the voters to vote confidently as reliable security arrangements have been made for the elections. Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police, and Temporary Police have been deployed for the security of the election.

The chief commissioner of the Election commission, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, has made it clear that the commission has arranged tight security to conduct the elections in a clean, fair and fearless manner. The Election Commission has claimed that this year, voters cannot cast more than one vote. Similarly, votes cannot be cast on behalf of another.

After the election is over, the ballot boxes will be taken for counting. The counting of votes will begin by holding an all-parties meeting.

Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya has informed that the counting of votes for the House of Representatives and the State Assembly will be done within 3 days from Monday and the counting of votes for other proportional elections will be done within 5 days.

After the election, an update on the vote count will be given every hour.


The Commission has requested the Election Office to facilitate the flow of information by appointing the Assistant Election Officer or any other employee of the Election Officer's Office as an Information Officer to publicize the vote results.

The Commission has instructed to make arrangements for providing notification of vote results through miking or other means at the polling place.

There are 2,412 candidates for the 165 seats in the House of Representatives and 3,223 candidates for the 330 seats in the seven provinces. There is 1 crore 79 lakh 88 thousand 570 voters in this year's election. There are 22,227 polling stations in 10,892 polling stations in 77 districts of Nepal. 247,000 employees are employed in the election.
