Illegal poaching increases in Myagdi

The poaching of wildlife from the Lekali forest in Myagdi has increased. Narayan Sapkota, a local resident, says that theft is happening every day in the high Lekali area.

He informs that every day hunters go to the forest with guns, and spears to hunt wild animalsAccording to the local residents, they have started going to the forest in winter because it is easier to hunt wild animals. They complain that the concerned agencies have not been able to prevent the illegal poaching of wild animals. According to the National Parks and Wildlife Protection Act 2029, those who hunt protected birds and wild animals can be imprisoned for five years to 15 years and fined from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
