Independent candidate wins in Kalikot

Out of the nine local levels of Kalikot, the turnout of two municipalities has been made public. According to the election results of the two municipalities, the independent candidate of Khandachakra Municipality and the candidate of Nepali Congress of Tilagufa Municipality have been elected to the major post.

 Independent candidate has won in Khandachakra municipality. Independent candidate Kamal Bahadur Shahi has won the mayoral post. He polled 2,797 votes, defeating his rival, former city chief and UML district president Jasiprasad Pandey. Pandey got 2366 votes. Ganesh Bahadur Shahi of the CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected as the Vice-Chairman. He won by bringing 2515.

 Similarly, Shankar Prasad Upadhyaya of the Nepali Congress has won the Tilagufa Municipality with 2916 votes. He was defeated by his nearest rival Dinesh Chadara of the Maoist Center with 2540 votes. Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of the CPN (UML) won the by-poll with 2756 votes. His nearest rival, Maoist center Gita Thapa, polled 2,416 votes. There was an alliance of Congress and UML in this municipality.
