A girl has gone missing after a boat capsized in the Karnali River today.

The missing girl has been identified as Anita BK (18) of Chaukune Rural Municipality-10 in Surkhet district, informed Ward Chair Shankar Bahadur Kami.

The boat capsized between Surkhet's Chaukune-10 and Kailali's Mohanyal Rural Municipality-3.

Five out of six persons in the boat managed to save their lives by swimming, said DSP and Spokesperson Ram Prasad Gharti at Surkhet District Police Office (DPO).

There were one male and five females passengers in the boat. They were heading towards a place named Solta in Mohanyal-3 to collect red soil for painting the house for the upcoming Dashain festival.

The bodies of two persons who went missing after a boat capsized at the same place on August 5 have not been found yet.

In lack of bridge in some places over the Karnali River, locals have been compelled to tread perilous journeys across the River.
