The existing organisational structure and terms of reference of the National Reconstruction Authority will continue to function till the mid of November.

NRA’s Directorate Committee’s 19th meeting presided over by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli took a decision to complete the reconstruction works by mid-November that were scheduled for the fiscal year 2020/2021.

CEO of NRA Sushil Gyawali said that the scheduled plan of action set for the NRA’s exit and its handover were revised due to delay in reconstruction of private houses due to the prohibitory order imposed to contain the second wave of COVID-19 in the country.

The remaining tasks would be completed in the first quarter of the current fiscal year by mobilising nominal workforce and preparations for an international conference and handover of the NRA would be advanced simultaneously.

Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bisnnu Prasad Poduel pledged to ensure sufficient budget to carry out the planned projects by the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021/022.

The meeting has also directed the NRA to provide the remaining installments of the money to the beneficiaries from the concerned local levels as far as possible for the completion of the private houses.

The meeting also approved to hold the international conference on Nepal’s reconstruction from 7-9 December 2021.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to provide communication and travel costs, and remoteness allowances to the engineers deployed for the reconstruction of the private houses.

Minister for Law Leelanath Shrestha, National Planning Commission’s Vice Chairman Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel, Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Home Secretary Maheshwor Neupane and other officials were also present in the meeting.
