One killed in bear attack in Jumla

Nima Lama, 85, of Guthichaur village municipality-3 in Jumla has died after being attacked by a bear. Lama was attacked by a bear on Sunday while approaching the market near Jharjwala of Guthichaur Municipality, according to Police Inspector Kamal Shrestha of Jharjwala Police Post.

Tensions ran high in the Jharjwala area all day after the bear killed the elderly. Dinesh Khatri, chief of the Division Forest Office, Jumla, said that the security forces took control of the area and shot the wild animal dead after it started attacking other people as well.

Lama was on his way to the district headquarters from Guthichaur at around 4.30 pm when he was attacked by a bear, which proved fatal.
