Pfizer vaccine to be given to children above 12 years

The Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 will be given to children of the age group of 12 to 17 for three days from today. Till yesterday, this vaccine was given only to chronic patients above 12 years of age.

According to vaccination branch of Department of Health Services, from today, arrangements have been made to provide the vaccine to healthy children and all age groups above 12 years in case of chronic illness.

The Health Office, Kathmandu, has also said that the vaccine will be given to those who come first as there is a small amount of vaccine left. According to the department, only about 27 to 28 hundred children will be vaccinated as there is an average of 500 vaccines per five vaccination center designated for Pfizer vaccine.

1 lakh 620 doses of vaccine received by Nepal under the CoVAX facility has been administered in a total of 24 hospitals including 8 in Kathmandu Valley and 16 outside. The second does of the vaccine should be after 21 to 28 days and will be administered from December 10 to 14.
