President's message on 16-day campaign against VAW

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended best wishes to all on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and the 16-day campaign against violence against women (VAW). She expressed solidarity to the Day and the campaign, today.

Issuing a message of best wishes, President Bhandari wished peace, prosperity and good health to all Nepali sisters living in the country and abroad.

"In this significant hour at present, I committee to the solidarity to the campaign against VAW and urge all to move ahead for just, civilized and prosperous society," the President said, stressing the effective implementation of constitutional provisions to end all forms of violence against women.

President Bhandari also said women should be made economically self-dependent. The Day would inspire the government bodies and social organizations working in the sector of women rights, according to her.
