Prisoners take turns sleeping due to lack of space

There is a problem in the management of Jajarkot Prison, which has a capacity of 20 inmates, with 54 inmates. The problem of overcrowding has added to the challenge of overcrowding in the correctional facility. There are currently 54 inmates in the prison with a capacity of five men and five women.

Kush Bahadur Mahatara, the head of the prison, said that there were problems with electricity, drinking water, army and health treatment due to overcrowding. As the number increases, there is a problem with sleeping. Prison Chief Chandra Bahadur Giri said that there are 54 inmates in the district jail including 35 inmates and 19 detainees. He said that the prison administration was facing problems in managing the old building and overcrowding. Prisoner Dirgha Bahadur Nepali said that the inmates could not sleep well during the rainy season as the prison in the district was dilapidated. 

Chief District Officer Ram Bahadur Shahi said that initiatives would be taken to find a solution in the prison. He said that there was a problem of overcrowding in the prison and initiatives were being taken to solve it. Everyone says they work, but the inmates have been complaining that nothing will happen. He said that he was shocked by the dilapidated building and poor management.
