Process for removal of time limit in rape law started

Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi has informed that the process has been started to remove the time limit for the complaint of sexual violence against girls.

Receiving a letter of attention submitted today by Samridhi Foundation Nepal on 'Reduction of Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls and No Specification of Deadline for Complaints', she said that he has already written to the Ministry of Law for revocation of the term and further process has been started.

Minister Regmi expressed confidence that the amended law would help bring the sex offenders under the ambit of law and the victims would get immediate justice. The letter calls for immediate removal of the deadline for complaints of sexual violence against women, immediate redressal of grievances, and immediate amendments to strengthen the law.

Foundation Chairperson Sangeeta Shrestha demanded to ensure the right of minors, adolescents and women to live freely and safely in a fearless environment.
