Seven arrested for trying to rob tourist

Police have arrested seven people for trying to rob foreign tourists in the North Namkha village of Humla district. They tried to rob 38-year-old German Matthias Ikma, who was travelling on the Great Himalayan Trail.

Ikma, who was heading towards Hills from Nara Lake in Namkha Village Municipality-5, was robbed by road workers. According to Police Inspector Deepak Malla, the workers were involved in the construction of the Hilsa-Simkot road.

Police have arrested Himal Sunar, Kamal Thapa, Chhavilal Basnet, Madhav Thapa, Ganesh Sunar, Khem Sunar and Vijay Bista. According to Bista, they are from Ghorahi and Tulsipur in the Dang district. All seven are being brought to the district headquarters Simkot from Namkha. Ikma was on a trek from the eastern Mt. Kanchenjunga to the Humla Hills. Police said that he was being brought to the District Police Office after lodging a complaint.
