Two drowned to death in a well in Madi

Two persons died after suffocation while cleaning up a well at Madi.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as Surya Gurung, 25, and Shiva Rai, 30, of Madi municipality-8.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narahari Adhikari shared that Gurung and Rai suffered from hypoxia and died this afternoon while cleaning a well of Rita Regmi at Madi municipality-7, Devendrapur.

First Gurung climbed down the well and he got suffocated, police informed, adding Rai them went down for Gurung’s rescue. The string used to climb down was snapped and both of them drowned and subsequently died, police said.

It was noted that they might have died inside the well in lack of oxygen. The bodies were recovered from the well after taking out water, police said.
