Writ seeking repeal of Election Commission Code of Conduct

A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking repeal of the Election Commission's code of conduct for the elected people's representative to resign from the post to become a candidate again. According to Supreme Court Spokesperson Bimal Poudel, Nima Galgen Sherpa, chairperson of Helmu village in Sindhupalchowk, has filed a writ petition seeking repeal of the code of conduct prepared by the Election Commission.

The writ petition states that the code of conduct made by the commission is illegal and does not fall under the purview of the central and state but the code of conduct made only targeting the local level representatives is illegal. The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold all the 753 local elections on April 12 at the same time.
