Damak mayor to not entertain any government facilities

Ram Kumar Thapa, the elected mayor of Damak Municipality in Jhapa, has announced that he will not take any service or facility from the municipality including his salary.

Stating that he would not take any facility for selfless work on behalf of the people, Thapa said that he would not even eat tea from the money paid by the people and would not feed anyone. Stating that his only goal is to bring prosperity and development to Damak, he expressed the commitment of the local government to always work on behalf of the people.

From the ruling coalition including RPP, he was elected as the mayor and Nepali congress' Regina Bhattarai was elected as the deputy mayor. Out of 10 wards of Damak, the alliance won 1, 4 and 10 while UML won in 7 other wards.
