Election brings transformation in country: NC General Secretary Sharma

Nepali Congress General Secretary, Bishwo Prakash Sharma has said the coming November 20 election would help elect the prime minister, that could help rule the country for next five years.

General Secretary Sharma stated this while unveiling the statue of the first martyr in Jhapa, Bishwonath Ghimire, at Bahundangi of Mechinagar on Friday. The country needs a prime minister that would bring transformation in the lives of the Nepali people and the country because the country has already got democracy, republic, and federalism.

He further said the country had witnessed adequate struggles and sacrifices for political change."Now, time is for the change in the status of people and work style of political parties," Sharma underscored.

Nepali Congress leader Ghimire was shot dead by the police on Jeshtha 31, 2019BS while he was going to Chandragadhi from Bahundangi. After sixty years of his murder, the Nepali Congress announced him as the first martyr of the Jhapa district.

The coordinator of the financial committee, Mohan Niraula, shared information that the statue was set up at the cost of Rs 1.4 million.

Also speaking on the occasion were Ram Kattel, Keshav Kumar Budhathoki, Goma Bhattarai, Sarita Prasai, Uddhav Thapa, and Dauman Thebe.

The grandson of the martyr Ghimire, Niraj Ghimire, had donated three hours of land to set up the statue.
