The first General Convention of the Nepali Congress was held in Bhawanipur, Kolkata on January 25 and 26 of 1947. Tanka Prasad Acharya was the president and BP Koirala was the acting president at the time. The second general convention of the Nepali Congress was held in Banaras on 2nd and 3rd February 1948, and BP Koirala was elected president.
Similarly, Matrika Prasad Koirala was the president of the third general convention held in Darbhanga, India from 1st to 3rd March of 1949. Matrika Prasad Koirala was re-elected as the chairperson of the fourth general convention held in Kolkata, India on 8th and 9th April 1950.
After the fifth general convention of the Nepali Congress was held in Janakpur, BP Koirala was re-elected as the president. Subarna Shamsher Rana was the President of the Sixth General Convention held in Birgunj from 23rd to 27th January 1956 and BP Koirala was the President of the Special General Convention held in Biratnagar from May 23 and 24 of 1957.
BP Koirala was elected as the president at the seventh general convention held in Kathmandu from May 7 to 13, 1960. Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was elected as the president of the eighth general convention held in Jhapa from February 19 to 21, 1992. Similarly, Girija Prasad Koirala was the party president in the Ninth General Convention held in Kathmandu from May 8th to 12th on 1996, the 10th General Convention was held in Pokhara from 2001 January 19 to 23, and the 11th General Convention was held in Kathmandu from August 17 to 20, 2005.
Sushil Koirala was elected as the president on the 12th general convention of the Nepali Congress held in Kathmandu from 17 to 21 September 2010, while the current party president Deuba was elected as the president from the 13th general convention held in Kathmandu from March 3 to 6, 2016.
The 14th General Convention is beginning on December 10, 2021, in Kathmandu.
