Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the US grant assistance MCC and the coalition government are two different issues. Speaking at a press conference organized by the Chitwan branch of the Nepal Press Union today, he said, "Congress has asked us to take MCC to the parliament for discussion. The alliance does not have to be broken.”

He said that Congress was confident that there would be no problem in the alliance due to the ruling coalition and MCC being different issues. He said, "The issue of alliance is one and the issue of MCC is another. There is no treason in MCC," he said. Spokesperson Dr. Mahat said that MCC is in the interest of Nepal. Let's present it in the parliament if there are any shortcomings. Why the hesitation?”

Stating that the speaker has no right to block any issue, he said that it is the right of the sovereign parliament. Stating that the parties should have a clear idea about MCC, he said, "Should we vote for MCC in the parliament or not, should we stay outside or should we stay inside? We have to make a decision."

Reminding that the Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' had sent a letter saying that he would pass the MCC, he said, "Had Prachanda not signed the MCC to pass it?" Reminding that MCC had been taken to the parliament when KP Sharma Oli was the Prime Minister in the past, the spokesperson Dr Mahat urged the UML not to change their decision now that they are out of power. He said, "Saying one thing about MCC today, another thing tomorrow. Saying it is right today and saying it is wrong tomorrow isn't good. Is there such a thing as MCC being right when you're in power and it being wrong when you are not?”
