The faction led by Mahanta Thakur, Chairperson of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal is making final preparations to join the government. It has been reported that the party will be led by senior leader Rajendra Mahato in the House of Representatives.

Thakur will be meeting Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli this afternoon to hold talks regarding the JSP joining the government. If the talks are fruitful the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal is likely to join the government with immediate effect.

The Supreme Court, on May 20, had issued an order relieving Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa (Badal), Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta; Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Top Bahadur Rayamajhi; Minister of Urban Development Prabhu Sah; Minister of Water Supply Mani Chandra Thapa; Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Gaurishankar Chaudhari; and Minister of Youth and Sports Dawa Lama Tamang, from their positions citing that their appointments were unconstitutional.

Subsequently, on May 21, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had given charge of the seven vacant ministries to Prime Minister Oli until further arrangements were made.

Meanwhile, Upendra Yadav, another Chairperson of JSP, is against the party supporting PM Oli and joining the government.
