Renu Dahal close to victory

The chief and deputy chief candidates of the five-party alliance are close to victory in Bhaktapur Metropolitan City.

As the counting of votes is nearing its final stage, Renu Dahal, candidate of the CPN (Maoist Center) and Chitrasen Adhikari, the deputy chief of the Nepali Congress, have come close to victory. Now 21,614 votes remain to be counted in the metropolis. 127,839 votes were cast in the metropolis. 106,225 votes have been counted till this morning.

Dahal of the UCPN (Maoist) got 43,743 votes while UML's Vijay Subedi got 33,813 votes. Independent candidate Jagannath Poudel got 13,377 votes. Adhikari got 45,074 votes while Himala Gurung of RPP got 26,749 votes.

Dahal for the chief and Adhikari for the deputy chief are close to victory. Counting of votes in wards 23 and 25 is underway. There are 29 wards in the corporation. After counting the votes of these two wards, only four wards remain to be counted. Dahal, who is close to victory, was the head of the previous metropolis. She has the support of the five-party alliance including the Congress.
