Seminar on the use of IT for peacekeeping operations

An international seminar on collaboration for technology in peacekeeping operations is going to be organized in Nepal by the Office of Information and Communication Technology under the United Nations Secretariat.

The Nepal Army Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information has shared that the seventh edition of the seminar will be held in Kathmandu from here from June 13 to 16.

The program is to be held to exchange experiences among the member countries about the technology, challenges, and best practices being used in peacekeeping operations as per the rapid development of IT and the changing security situation.

The event is being held under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the coordination of the Nepali Army while representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and Ministry of Finance will represent Nepal.

According to the directorate, 230 people including representatives of 51 member states of the United Nations and experts in various subjects will participate in the mega event.

Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Atul Khare, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of Information Technology, the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resources, the United Nations Disengagement Force Commander, and representatives of 11 different peacekeeping missions will also participate in the event.
