The first grand slam of the year has already seen some major upsets with defending champions Rafael Nadal failing to go past 65th-ranked Mackenzie McDonald in the second round. Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev also have been ousted as underdog tennis players have punched above their weight to storm into the quarterfinals. Let's take a look at some of the players in the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic semi-finalist was the highlight of the men's singles fourth round, and Djokovic made an impression despite competing while sporting a severely bandaged left leg.

Against the hometown favorite Alex de Minaur, Djokovic was dominant, winning 6-2 6-1 6-2.

He plays Russia's Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals after his "best match of the year so far" as he aims for a record-breaking 10th men's single Australian Open victory.

In an effort to follow in the footsteps of his father Petr, who won the 1998 Australian Open, Sebastian Korda, the 10th seed, leads the American charge.

The 22-year-old is from a family of athletes. His mother Regina (neé Rajchrtova), a former tennis world number 26 who competed in Seoul in 1988, is also a tennis player.

For a crack at the semifinals, Korda will next take on Karen Khachanov.
