Martyr’s Memorial Football League goes on with great fan support

Among much popularity amongst fans Nepal's top league’s table begins to take shape.

Despite dropping temperatures, especially come nightfall, the valley football scene still sees throngs of fans flocking to Dasrath Stadium to catch the football action. After its long awaited return from the COVID enforced hiatus the Martyr’s Memorial Football tournament has returned with a lot of fan fervor surrounding its return.

The return of the game, currently being played under floodlights brings a whole host of good news. From unemployed players getting back their jobs to referees also getting a lot more games under the league, the earnings and employment the league has created after the leagues revival post-covid is truly a positive step in the right direction.

Currently Machhindra Football Club leads the Qatar Airways Martyr’s Memorial A Division League having scored a total of 14 points after winning 4 out of their first 6 games with the rest of them being draws. During this unbeaten run, the leaders have scored 7 goals and have only conceded 1 goal.


Manang Marshyangdi Club is close second with a total of 13 points winning 4, drawing 1 and losing one of their games. Followed by Sankata Club and Nepal Army Club in 4th.

Out of the 14 clubs, Chyasal Youth Club and FriendsClub have been confirmed relegated to the B Division.
